The graveside service for Grace Myrle Smith Cowan, 85, of Vici, will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, in Sunnyside Cemetery, Vici. The Rev. Clyde Irving will officiate. Arrangements are by Billings Funeral Home, Woodward. Family visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
She was born May 19, 1924, in Mooreland to Earl and Eva Maxwell Smith and died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at Seiling Memorial Hospital.
During her early years, she lived in several foster homes. As a teen, she lived with Weston and Imo Dick of Vici. She attended school at Prairie Gem.
She married Henry Franklin Cowan March 12, 1943, in Woodward. They made their home in Vici, where she was a homemaker. She also did volunteer work for various services such as Opportunity Inc., Seven County RSVP Program and Vici Senior Center. She was a member of Vici First Christian Church.
Surviving are one daughter, May Francis Staley of Yale; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, two babies and one grandson.
