Enid, OK — The funeral for Vivian Azbill, 90, of Cherokee, will be 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at First United Methodist Church, Cherokee. The Rev. Paul Calkin will officiate. Burial will be in Cherokee Cemetery. Arrange-ments are by Goodwin Funeral Home, Cherokee.
She was born March 29, 1919, on a farm south of Byron to James and Iva Lambke and died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009.
She was a 1936 graduate of Byron High School. She attended business college in Wichita, Kan., before returning to Che-rokee, where she worked as a receptionist and bookkeeper for Cherokee Clinic.
She married Harold Azbill Oct. 7, 1940. They traveled to Texas, Pennsyl-vania, Arkansas, Wyoming and back to Oklahoma during his career as an engineer. They settled in Cherokee in 1953. In 1955, they purchased an insurance agency. He died in 1973. She continued to run Azbill Insurance Agency until she retired in 1985.
She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, where she taught various Sunday school classes and served on several church committees and served as communion steward. She also was a member of Eastern Star and E.S.A. Sorority.
Surviving are two daughters, Lynda Vian Morrow of Tulsa and Jan Roberson of Oklahoma City; one sister, Lois Fuller of Oklahoma City; and four grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Harold, she was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Cherokee, Oklahoma Medical Research cancer division or the charity of donor’s choice.
