A graveside service for Dwight Donovan Halley, 91, of Woodward, will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, in North Persimmon Ceme-tery, east of Sharon. Arrange-ments are by Shaw Funeral Home, Vici.
He was born Sept. 11, 1918, near Sharon to Arley and Pearl Nixon Halley and died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at Grace Living Center in Woodward.
He attended Sharon Public Schools, Okmulgee Technical School and Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He joined the Army April 16, 1942. He was a cook and held the rank of private first class. He was honorably discharged Aug. 31, 1945. He married Rosamond Daniels Feb. 10, 1945. They made their home in Sharon.
He was a commercial carpenter. He worked for the Civil Conservation Corps helping to build Boiling Springs State Park and was part of the crew which built Newman Memorial Hospital. He attended First Baptist Church of Sharon.
Surviving are one sister, Marlene Halley Miller of Woodward; stepdaughter, Grace Hill of Oklahoma City; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosamond, and four brothers.
