Marcus 'Mark' Henthorn

Enid, OK — The funeral for Marcus “Mark” Elbert Henthorn, 83, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at New Hope United Methodist Church. The Rev. Sheila Combs-Francis and Chaplain Shorty Unruh will officiate. Burial will be in Karoma Cemetery, Goltry. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be 6-7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was born Jan. 25, 1926, in Enid to Albert and Lois Wilson Henthorn and died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at Golden Oaks Retirement Village.

He graduated from Carrier High School in 1944.

He married Verna M. Jantz March 15, 1944, in Fairview. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II for almost two years. After his military service, the couple moved to Enid, where he worked at Union Equity, starting out as sweeper and working up to elevator superintendent He retired after 40 years.

He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. The couple moved to Golden Oaks more than four years ago.

Surviving are his wife, Verna; one daughter, Janice Richards of Flower Mound, Texas; one son, Wesley Henthorn of Enid; one brother Bob Henthorn of Moore; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Relay for Life, New Hope United Methodist Church building fund or Golden Oaks chapel fund.
