OKEENE —  Barbara Jo Meier was born March 2, 1928, to Herbert and Mary Ellen (McAllester) Lorenz in Hitchcock, Okla., and died Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, in Weatherford, Texas.

She spent her early years living in the Hitchcock and Loyal areas until her family moved to Saginaw, Mich. She moved back to Oklahoma at the age of 15 to live with family in Thomas.

She married David George Meier Jr. on April 2, 1949. They established their home and farmed in the Hitchcock area.

Barbara Jo was a fine farm girl, living on the family dairy farm for many years. She loved to cook and bake, delivering many meals to the wheat fields. She was known as the Cinnamon Roll Queen.

Her bierocks were known all over Blaine County. She was a self-taught seamstress. She sewed many years for herself, family and professionally. She worked part-time at “Tincy’s,” a clothing boutique in Watonga, owned by Tincy Cowen.

This lead to her buying “The Abby,” a clothing store in Okeene, which she owned for many years.

She moved from the family farm in Hitchcock to Okeene in February 2005. She moved to Weatherford, Texas, in March 2012.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and brother Jim Lorenz.

She is survived by her children, David Meier and dog, Jake, Michelle and Kevin Buchanan, and Michael and Kelly Meier; grandchildren, Cass and Alli Meier, Colton Buchanan, Tyler Meier, Kelsey Meier, Cody Parker and Justin and Kelsi Green;  great-grandchildren, Wyatt Baker, Keli, Kirk, Faith, Seth and Christopher Green and Conner Parker.

Funeral service for Barbara Jo will be 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at Seventh Day Adventist Church, Okeene. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery. Wilkinson Mortuary of Okeene is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may by made through the funeral home to Okeene Hospital or Hitchcock Fire Department.

    Service for Mr. Earl Herman Rivenburg, 82, of Gilmer, Texas, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer, with Pastor Kerry Roy officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today, May 17, 2013, at the funeral home.
    Mr. Rivenburg passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013, at Wesley Oaks Memory Care Center in Sulphur Springs, Texas, from complications of pneumonia.
    He was born Dec. 6, 1930, in Peabody, Kan., to Hugh and Elizabeth Rivenburg.
    Earl was their fifth and final child, as his mother died shortly after his birth. He was given to a hired hand and his wife to raise and unfortunately, his was not a happy childhood.
    At an early age, he set out on his own and was taken in by Emma Seifert as a farmhand in Carrier, Okla., where he graduated from high school in 1948. It was here that he met and married his first wife, who bore his two children.

    Graveside service for Mary Frances Whitfill, 97, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, in Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo.  Rev. Suzie Goldt will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
    Mary was born May 27, 1915, in Kansas City, Mo., to William Edward and Mary Etta (Paradise) Major and passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at The Commons in Enid, Okla.
    She grew up in Kansas City, Mo., graduating from Central High School in 1932.
    She married her high school sweetheart, Elton Whitfill, on June 8, 1935, and celebrated 72 years of marriage before his passing in 2008. She was also preceded in death by a great-grandson.

    He died Monday, April 15, 2013, in Houston, Texas.  
    He worked as a field service engineer for General Electric in Oklahoma City, Enid, and Houston.

    Lisa was born July 9, 1960, in Clinton, Okla., to Thomas Francis Lee and Maymie Limpy and died Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Sparks Hospital, Fort Smith, Ark.
    Lisa graduated from high school in Eufaula, Okla. She was a homemaker for her family.
