Neva Grace Kimbrel Haigler

Enid, OK — The funeral service for Neva Grace Kimbrel Haigler, 87, of Watonga, will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2009, at Oasis Church, Watonga. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Watonga. Arrangements are by Wilkinson Mortuary, Watonga.

She was born Nov. 23, 1921, in Carlton to David Alva and Cora Belle Hedrick Kimbrel and died Monday, June 29, 2009, at her home.

She grew up in Carlton, attending school through eighth grade, and then graduated from Canton High School in 1938. She earned her business education degree from Phillips University.

She married James Lloyd Haigler Feb. 21, 1942. While he served in the Army Air Force overseas, she taught school in Pond Creek and Canton and worked in the accounting office at United State Gypsum, Southard.

They moved to Alexandria, La., in 1944 and she worked as a statistical clerk in the civilian personnel office on the Air Force Base. They moved to Carlton in 1945, where they farmed, and then south of Southard in 1960. She returned to the personnel office of United States Gypsum in 1952 and worked there 20 years. She earned her master of business administration degree from Southwestern State College in 1969.

She was an active member of Oasis Church and involved in the women’s committee of Blaine County Farm Bureau. She served as chairman of Blaine County Republican Party and was a delegate from Oklahoma at the Republican National Convention in 1979. She also was involved in the pro-family organization Eagle Forum.

Surviving are one son, Mike Haigler of Watonga; one daughter, Sandy Clark of Watonga; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James, one daughter and two brothers.
