The funeral for Velma Edna Hartzke Chastain, 88, of Watonga, will be 10 a.m. today, July 1, 2009, at First Church of the Nazarene, Watonga. Jeff Liles, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Watonga. Arrangements are by Wilkin-son Mortuary.
She was born June 18, 1921, in Watonga to Gustave and Armina Hartzke and died Sunday, June 28, 2009.
She attended Bridgeford School District 40 and graduated from Watonga High School in 1940. She lived in the Watonga area all of her life. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. She married John Franklin Chastain Dec. 23, 1943, in Sayre.
Surviving are one son, Steve of Richland of Washington; three daughters, Carolyn of Thomas, Camilla of Leedey and Anna of Stillwater; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, one sister and one brother.
