Enid, OK — The funeral for John William Stinson, 70, of Laverne, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at Apostolic Faith Church, Laverne. Pastors Coby Cook and James Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, east of Laverne. Arrangements are by Myatt Funeral Home, Buffalo. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was born Aug. 6, 1938, in Cripple Creek, Colo., to Avery and Helen Emeigh Stinson and died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, at Harper County Community Hospital, Buffalo.

He attended Rosston Schools in Laverne and was a member of Apostolic Faith Church of Laverne. He served as a police officer in Laverne from 1973-1981, and the City of Laverne in maintenance from 1987-2004.

He married Anna Mae Littau May 8, 1957, in Rosston.

Surviving are his wife, Anna; one brother, Avery Stinson Jr. of Laverne; one sister, Mary McCoy of Laverne; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, one daughter, one brother, and two sisters.
