ENID, Okla. — Virgil L. Streck, of Enid, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at the age of 102. He was born June 14, 1910 in Carrier to Jake and Helen Weibel (Weber) Streck. Virgil married Eleanor Bowman Masemore in 1935, and they had five children.

Virgil was a self-taught mechanic and taught airplane mechanics at Vance AFB. He had a mechanic shop at his home, as well. He was a farmer, rancher, and pilot who flew his own two planes, one of which he built himself. Virgil was a member of Hillsdale Bible Church.

Virgil and Eleanor moved off the farm to Enid in 1984. After Eleanor’s passing in 2001, Virgil moved to The Commons at The Methodist Home in Enid.

Virgil is survived by his four children, David Leroy Streck and wife Mary B. of Troup, Texas, Larry Joe Streck and wife Audry of Troup, Texas, Laura Lou Pullin and husband John Thomas, of Enid, James Loren Streck and wife Jacki of Marshall; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor; sister, Dorothy Leslie; son, Jerry Lynn who passed away Jan. 12, 2013, and Jerry’s wife, Brenda, in May 2011.

There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, with the Rev. J. Thomas Pullin officiating. Viewing and visitation with the family will be 5:30-7 p.m. today at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
