Elton Lee Cardwell

ENID, Okla. — Elton Lee Cardwell, 90, longtime resident of Lamont, Okla., passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Ponca City Medical Center. Elton was born Dec. 28, 1922, in Morrill, Kan., to Albert “Bert” Lee and Iva Jewel (Anderson) Cardwell.

Elton’s family moved to Lamont in 1930, where he graduated from Lamont High School.

He entered the Army Air Corps Feb. 28, 1943, serving during World War II, and was honorably discharged Feb. 25, 1946.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and a member of the United Methodist Church in Lamont. He also was on the Lamont Cemetery board. He worked at Conoco for 30 years as a lab tech.

Elton married Mattie Lou Dixon Nov. 7, 1942, in Reno, Nev. They celebrated 70 years of marriage. Elton said his fondest memory was of their first date on July 4, 1941.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie Cardwell; his sons, Phillip Cardwell and wife Kay of Tonkawa, Okla., Gale Cardwell and wife Janet of Liberty, Mo., and Ty Cardwell and wife Susy of Kingfisher, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.   

Preceding him in death are his parents; a son, Mark Cardwell; and two sisters, Lila Ingvaldson and Estelle Bee Muegge.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at United Methodist Church of Lamont, Okla., with Pastor Vera Walton officiating. Interment will follow in Lamont Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson Funeral Home, Tonkawa, Okla.

    She was born in Lahoma on Nov. 12, 1933, to Gilbert and Elna (Holz) Moehle and passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013, in Enid.
    As a child, Marlene was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lahoma.
    After completing the Lutheran school, Marlene graduated from Lahoma High School and attended nursing school at Bass Hospital in Enid.
    She married Donald Davis.

    Thomas was born March 17, 1942, in Muldrow, Okla., to James and Nezzie Carter Owens and died Saturday, May 18, 2013, in Enid.
    Surviving are son, Thomas Owens Jr. of Enid; daughters, Carole Ford of Red Bluff, Calif., Kristi Patricio of Sonora, Calif., and Irene Owens of Shawnee; seven grandchildren; and his siblings.

    She died Monday, May 20, 2013, at Midwest City Regional Hospital.

    Marie was born Dec. 24, 1922, in Guthrie, Okla., to Jewett S. Sr. and Gladys Grace (Wicker) Scott and died Sunday, May 19, 2013. She married Ben Brandt in June 1946.  
    Preceded by husband, Ben, and one sister.
    Surviving are children, Becky Butler, Ben Brandt Jr., Beverly Graham and Beth Pershall; brothers, Jewett Scott Jr.; sisters, Judy Smith and Jill Talley; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

    She married John Henry Porter in March 1948.
