ENID, Okla. —
VernaFay Fern DeWitt, 91, lifelong resident of Kingfisher, Okla., passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, in Kingfisher.
Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at First Christian Church, Kingfisher. Rev. Marilyn Merle will officiate. Arrangements are under direction of Sanders Funeral Service, Kingfisher.
VernaFay was born July 2, 1921, in Howard, N.D., to Albert and Ella “Kline” Hauser.
She graduated from Loyal High School in 1938.
She married Ralph S. DeWitt Jan. 13, 1941, in Kingfisher.
VernaFay was a member of First Christian Church. She worked as a waitress, homemaker and mother.
VernaFay DeWitt is survived by one granddaughter, Erin Chastain-Harris and husband Chris of College Station, Texas, and one sister, LaDonna Kochenower of Kingfisher.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, one daughter, Donetta McWilliams, and one brother, Raymond K. Hauser.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Sanders Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are welcome for the DeWitt Scholarship Fund at Edward Jones Investment Co., 105 N. Main St., Suite A, Kingfisher, OK 73750.
