Bonnie Rae Streich

ENID — Funeral for Bonnie Rae Streich will be 1 p.m. Monday, December 31, 2012, at Helena First Christian Church, with Pastor Jay Drawbridge officiating. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery, with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Helena. Viewing at the funeral home will be 3-6 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to noon Monday. Memories may be shared at www.lanman memorials.com.

Bonnie Rae Streich was born in Enid June 17, 1945, the daughter of Percy and Bessie Mitchell Gwinn and passed from this life in Enid December 27, 2012.

Bonnie was raised near Helena and lived in the Helena-Goltry area all of her life except two years she lived and worked in Tulsa.

Bonnie and Terry Streich were married in 1968, and they had two children, Mitchell and Marlo.

She was the second woman to graduate with an accounting degree from Northwestern in 1967. Bonnie worked as a bookkeeper first for Standard Oil in Tulsa then she spent 13 years at Champlin Petroleum in Enid. When Champlin relocated to Dallas, Bonnie remained in Enid and worked for Romain-Baker Oil Company.

She loved raising English bulldogs, gardening and canning produce from her garden. Then she would take her canned goods to craft shows for sale. She also was an avid antique shopper.

Those who have preceded her in death are her parents, Percy and Bessie Gwinn, and her brother, Roger Gwinn.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Mitchell Streich and wife Deisy of Goltry and Marlo Flournoy and husband Michael of Edmond; three grandchildren, Justin and Allison Streich and Connor Flournoy; a sister-in-law, Pat Gwinn of Helena; several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Helena First Church.

  • Teresa "Terry" Rae Bennett

    Teresa “Terry” Rae Bennett, 55, was the daughter of Elvin and Darla June Horne Zeman. She was born Sept. 27, 1957, in Enid and was baptized April 13, 1958, at United Methodist Church, Medford. She went to be with her heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, while at her home.
    She graduated from Medford High School in 1975. After graduation, she worked various jobs in her younger years.
    She married Steve Bennett Oct. 17, 1990. They settled and made their home in Medford.
    Teresa worked 10-plus years for the Grant County Health Department as a health care giver.
    In 2007, she became a homemaker, helping her husband with the family farm and business. Teresa enjoyed shopping with her mother, gardening, making crafts, fishing, traveling, watching car and horse races, going to the farm to see her cats and spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed her time with friends and living life to the fullest.

    Funeral service for John William Taylor, 85, of Enid, will be 11 a.m. today, June 20, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Randy Mitchell Officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
    John was born Oct. 26, 1927, in Enid, and was the only child of William and Nellie Ratcliff Taylor and passed away Friday, June 14, 2013, at his home.
    After graduating from Enid High School in 1944, at the age of 16, he briefly attended Phillips University.
    Shortly thereafter, John enlisted in the Air Force, because of his lifelong love of flying. He served as a staff sergeant in Guam.
    Prior to his deployment, he met and started courting his future wife, Sue Hackleman, of Stillwater, after meeting at the swimming pool in Green Mountain Falls, Colo. They married six years later on June 5, 1950, in Stillwater. After being discharged, John attended Oklahoma A&M until he returned to Enid to help run the Enid Publishing Co., where he served as president and owner until 1989. He also was owner of KCRC-KNID radio stations and Enid Two-Way.

    Terry was born March 15, 1959, to Jean and Tip Cullins and died Sunday, June 16, 2013, at his home.  
    Terry worked as a truck driver, taking long transports all over the country for weeks at a time.

    Jeffrey was born Sept. 21, 1953, in Enid, Okla., to Donald and Vada (Valtr) Wiggins and died Monday, June 17, 2013, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center, Enid.
    He married Debbie Readnour April 26, 1975, in Alva.

    Funeral for Velva Hawk, 91, of Enid, will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with family is 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
    Velva was born July 6, 1921, in Ames, Okla., to Everett and Julie Brittain and died Monday, June 17, 2013.
    Surviving are children, Larry Hawk, Linda Grimm and Gene Hawk; six grandchildren, Craig, Kimber, Deidre, Stacie, Terry and Kevin; sisters, Aileen Crawford and Dorothy Skalenda; and 10 great-grandchildren.

    Surviving are husband, Jim of the home; son, Jimmie of the home; daughter, Jennifer Hoskins of Enid; two granddaughters, Tapanga and Cheyenne Martin of Enid; one sister; and one brother, Mat Ging.
