She graduated from Milbank High School.
She was a midwife and worked for the United States Forest Service before her retirement as State Supervisor for Royal Neighbor Insurance Company in 1989, after 10 years.
Mabel and Thomas had unwavering faith in the Lord and were very active members of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She got great comfort in reading her Bible.

She always loved life and often said her cup runneth over. She and Thomas raised six children with love and there was always room for another at the table. With a distinctive laugh, she always found joy and humor in life.

She was preceded by her beloved Thomas of 55 years; sons, Daniel and Thomas John; daughter, Linda; and a granddaughter, Angela.
