Eula Davidson Pierce

ENID — Funeral for Eula Davidson Pierce will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at United Methodist Church, Lamont. The Rev. Vera Walton officiating. Burial will follow in Lamont Cemetery under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek.

Eula L. Davidson was born Aug. 7, 1907, to Frank and Nellie Davidson, near Cushing, Okla. At the age of nine months her family moved to a farm near Stillwater.

Eula attended a one-room country school through the seventh grade. At that time the family moved into Stillwater. She graduated from Stillwater High School and later attended A&M College for one year.

She taught school for one year at a small school between Stillwater and Perry.

On May 29, 1929, she married Ralph Pierce at the home of her parents, near Pamona, Kan. The couple established a home near Salt Fork, where he was farming and she taught school until they started their family. They farmed for 48 years.

Eula helped to establish the “Salt Fork Extension Club.” She attended the Salt Fork Church, taught Sunday school and was superintendent for several years before the church consolidated with the Lamont Methodist Church.

In the Lamont Church, she taught Sunday school, sponsored the Methodist youth and was president of the women’s group. Eula enjoyed gardening, sewing and many crafts.

She and her husband, Ralph, retired to Lamont in April 1977. In Lamont, she stayed busy with church activities, Senior Citizens, family and friends.

Eula is survived by two daughters, Mildred Jeannine Gant and husband Dean of Atwater, Calif., and Joyce Louise Landis and husband Bob of Lamont, Okla. She also was survived by 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild. She also leaves behind numerous caring nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph in 1993; her son, Charles; daughter-in-law, Marci; granddaughter, Stephanie; six sisters; and two brothers.

Viewing will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at Lamont Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made through the State Exchange Bank to Lamont Methodist Church or Lamont Senior Citizens.
