ENID, Okla. —
Funeral service for Ruby Gordon Skidmore, 93, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Donaldson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Ruby was born June 3, 1919, to Lloyd and Grace (Owens) Shelton in Elizabeth, Ark., and passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, in Enid.
Ruby grew up in Elizabeth, Ark. At the age of 18, she moved to Covington and lived at Sinclair Oilfield.
On May 31, 1940, she married Delmer Fredis Skidmore in Covington.
Ruby worked for several years for the Garfield County Election Board. She was a homemaker, and a baker at Woodring Airport for 13 years, where she perfected her apple dumplings. People would fly into the airport just for her apple dumplings. Ruby later was a baker at Advance Foods for 10 years. In 1980, they moved to Enid.
Ruby loved watching her children and grandchildren playing sports. She loved her Lord and Savior.
Ruby is survived by four children, Karen Krausse and husband Larry, and Larry Skidmore and wife Mary Ellen, all of Enid, Connie Skidmore of Broken Arrow, and Jerry Skidmore and partner Bruce Boan of Atlanta, Ga.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmer; brother, Joe Shelton; and a great-great-grandson.
