ENID —
Carole Lee Tebow McCart was born Feb. 26, 1934, in Joplin, Mo., to Ercell Dale and Eunice Laura Reeves Tebow.
The family moved to Pond Creek, where Ercell opened Tebow Drug Store. While attending Pond Creek High School, she worked at the drug store.
When Bob McCart was in a car accident outside of town, they stopped at the drug store before heading to Enid, and Carole Lee rode with them to help. They married July 13, 1952, celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary this past summer.
She attended Oklahoma A&M, and they had three children, Carla, Kim and Dale.
After Bob’s stint in the Army, they moved to Nash, Okla., to work on the McCart family farm.
Carole Lee was a member of the Nash School Board and helped with the Jet-Nash School District merger. She was a member of Nash Fire Department for 25 years, and worked as an emergency medical technician. She taught First Responder and CPR classes all over the area.
She was a good cook, and her grandchildren were especially fond of her macaroni and cheese that she served at every family event, including Thanksgiving. Over the years, she generously provided food to friends and family and the sick and bereaved. Until a few weeks before her death, she was organizing dinners.
She is survived by her husband, Bob; sister, Marilyn Dowell of Ponca City; her children and their spouses, Carla and Jim Hilkert of Allen, Texas, Kim and Kim Metcalf of Nash and Dale and Rhonda McCart of Nash. She has eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
