Twyla Nadine White Provost

ENID, Okla. — Funeral service for Twyla Nadine White Provost, 88, of Enid will be Sunday, March 17, 2013, at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church in Cherokee with the Rev. Tom Stanley officiating.

Burial will follow at Cherokee Municipal Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc., Cherokee.

Online condolences may be given to the family at www.lanmanmemorials.com.

Viewing will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 until 8.

Twyla was born on Aug. 9, 1924, in Lambert to Robert F. White and Stella White, the youngest of seven children.

She died on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at the Commons Retirement Center in Enid.

She graduated from Lambert High School in 1942 and then attended Northwestern State College.

In 1945 she married her high school sweetheart, Donald M. Provost at her parents’ home in rural Lambert. Don and Twyla celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary with family and friends in 2012

She was a loving mother, homemaker and farm wife.She was an active member of the First Christian Church in Cherokee for 71 years and enjoyed many community and church activities such as Tuesday Morning Bible Study, Midway Sunday School Class, C.W.F., 7 a.m. Coffee Club and Farmettes Club.

She was a faithful hospital and nursing home volunteer, an accomplished musician, self-taught in both piano and ukulele. She loved singing duets with her daughter and participating in the church choir. In 2011 due to failing health, she and her husband moved to the Commons in Enid.

They joined Central Christian Church and attended the Sooner Sunday School Class. Twyla was preceded in death by her son, Jerry C. Provost; her mother and father; four brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Don of Enid; daughter, LaDonna (Provost) Groves and husband, Roger; daughter-in-law, Linda (Provost) Haselwood and husband, Bill; grandchildren, Travis M. Provost and wife, Rebecca, Travis W. Groves, Sarah Marchetti and husband, Adam, Scott, Brian and Jeremy Haselwood; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law,Virginia Arnot and Jean Wheeler; many nieces; nephews and numerous friends. Also, special to her heart were Janea and Garrett Butler and Benjamin and Baylee Oister.

Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church of Cherokee or Central Christian Church in Enid through the funeral home.
