ENID, Okla. — Herold C. “Heap” Hogan passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Cimarron Nursing Center in Kingfisher, Okla., at the age of 89 years. He was born to Frank and Georgia (Beatty) Hogan on Sept. 17, 1923, in Weatherford, Okla.

He grew up and graduated from Weatherford High School.

He served in the U.S. Army during WW2, serving in England, France and Germany. After being discharged and returning home, he joined the Oklahoma National Guard and was called up to serve during the Korean conflict, serving in Japan.

After Korea, he graduated from Southwestern University with a BA degree in education. He then received his master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma.

He married Margaret Baker in Clinton, Okla., in 1950.

He taught school in Sickles, Okla., for five years and was the superintendent and coach at Omega for four years. He moved into Kingfisher and taught for 21 years in the Kingfisher School System.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Kingfisher Golf Association, Kingfisher Lions Club and Kingfisher American Legion.

His wife, Margaret of the home, two sons, Terral Hogan and Mike Hogan of Oklahoma City, and a daughter, Vicky Gelner of Charlotte, N.C., survive him.

His parents, four sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. today, Nov. 27, 2012, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Pat McPherson officiating. Internment will follow in Kingfisher Cemetery, with military rites provided by the Kingfisher American Legion Post No 5. Arrangements by Sanders Funeral Service Inc., Kingfisher.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church.

After completing the Lutheran school, Marlene graduated from Lahoma High School and attended nursing school at Bass Hospital in Enid.
She married Donald Davis.

Thomas was born March 17, 1942, in Muldrow, Okla., to James and Nezzie Carter Owens and died Saturday, May 18, 2013, in Enid.
Surviving are son, Thomas Owens Jr. of Enid; daughters, Carole Ford of Red Bluff, Calif., Kristi Patricio of Sonora, Calif., and Irene Owens of Shawnee; seven grandchildren; and his siblings.
