ENID — Funeral for Evelyn Bass will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at The Redeemer Lutheran Church. The Rev. Thomas House, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Service is under direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Evelyn was born November 6, 1928, in Lone Wolf, OK, the daughter of Leo and Hanna Schreiner Thur, and passed into eternal life November 7, 2012.

She was a graduate and valedictorian of Lone Wolf High School in 1946. She worked for a few years and then attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, OK, graduating cum laude in 1952 with a bachelor of science degree in education.

She began her teaching career at Hennessey High School, starting in 1952, for several years. In 1958, she received her master’s degree in secondary education from Oklahoma State University. She was a professor of math at Cameron University in Lawton, OK, for many years.

She was united in marriage to Wiley Bass November 28, 1980, in Hobart, OK. and he preceded her in death October 23, 1992.

She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, LWML women’s group, Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Theta Kappa and Delta Kappa Gamma. Evelyn enjoyed doing needlepoint, working crossword puzzles and reading. Evelyn  also assisted her church through Meals on Wheels. Without fail, all family members received a card on any occasion.

Survivors include nieces, Sharon Cress and her husband Glen of Friendswood, TX, and Cynthia Wheeler and her husband Charles of Chickasha, OK; three great-nephews, Derek Cress, Matthew Wheeler and his wife Anna and Adam Wheeler and his wife Leia; one great-niece, Erin Higgins and her husband Paul; three great-great-nieces and one great-great nephew, Riley and Alexandra Higgins, Juliette Wheeler and Noah Higgins; a brother-in-law, Robert Bass of Enid, OK; numerous cousins; and a host of friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Marvin Thur; a sister-in-law, Vernetta Thur; an infant nephew, Alan Thur; and an infant niece, Elaine Thur.

Memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or donor’s choice with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home acting as custodian of the fund. Online condolences may be left at ladusauevans.com.

    Ty was born to Kenneth Wayne and Mary Bess (Spencer) Lytle on May 22, 1960, in North Kansas City, Mo., and died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at his home in Enid.

    Douglas Lloyd Champlin of Gardnerville, Nev., died peacefully on Monday, May 20, 2013, in Scottsdale, Ariz., after a brief illness of cancer. He was born Jan. 9, 1941, in Enid, Okla., to Joe Noble and Jane Edwards Champlin.
    He is survived by his wife, Laurel Raether Champlin; daughter, Christa Hampton and husband Cobey of Cave Creek, Ariz.; daughter, Claire Woolsey and husband Cole of Reno, Nev., and Cassidy Champlin of the home; six grandchildren; sister, Joanna M. Champlin and husband Shawnee Brittan of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and many nieces, nephews and beloved friends all over the world.
    Doug was preceded in death by his parents and beloved brother, H.H. “Bud” Champlin, formerly of Enid, Okla.
    As a young boy growing up in Enid, Okla., Doug developed a love for history and the military. He became a collector at a young age of toy soldiers, guns, and just about anything he could get his hands on related to history.

    The graveside service for Harold H. Jantzen, 80-year-old Newton, Kan., resident will be 3 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2013, in the West New Hopedale cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. The Rev James Suderman will officiate.
    Harold was born Oct. 31, 1932, in Bessie, Okla., to Henry K. and Frieda (Froese) Jantzen and died Sunday, May 19, 2013 in Newton, Kan. After graduating high school he attended Grace Bible Intitute and the Bethel College. He then attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where he obtained his master’s degree. He then earned a specialist’s degree from Emporia College.

    Memorial service for James M. Dillard, 61, Pilot Oak, Ky., will be 3 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Byrn Funeral Home Chapel, Mayfield, Ky. Abe Leonard will officiate.
    James was born Sept. 5, 1951, in Fairview and died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at home.
      Surviving are two daughters, Margo (Chris) Kesinger of Tonkawa, and Francine (Sheldon) Wedel of Pilot Oak; one sister, Judy Dillard of Wichita, Kan.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
