Gloria Lee Loving (Whitsitt), 80, passed peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at her home in Enid. Gloria was born to Chandaus and Maude Whitsitt in Enid on Aug. 9, 1932, and grew up in Enid.
She graduated from Enid High School as a member of the class of 1950, and married her high school sweetheart, Jack Loving, on Dec. 31, 1950. They remained married for almost 50 years, until Jack’s passing on Nov. 15, 2000.
Gloria and Jack lived in several locations including Kentucky, Louisiana, Alabama, Texas, Indiana, Germany and New Jersey during Jack’s 26-year Army career. Upon Jack’s military retirement in 1976, they settled in El Paso, Texas.
Gloria and Jack returned to Enid in 1995, to be closer to their friends and family. Gloria was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Enid.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chandaus and Maude Whitsitt, and her husband Jack Loving.
Gloria is survived by her son, Colonel (Ret.) Steven Loving, USA, of Arlington, Va,; sisters, Mrs. Viola Williams of Wichita, Kan., Mrs. Mearl Thornburgh of Loveland, Colo., and Mrs. Gerry Nave of Enid; niece, Mrs. Susan Williams of Enid; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a private family service, where Gloria will be interred with her husband in Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C. Cremation arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Gloria’s memory be made to Enid Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
