ENID —

Remember last summer when we were all excited about a real movie being shot in our town?

Several local folks were tapped to be extras, and they spent two days being filmed walking, or talking or sitting on a train. They were background to the movie “The Killer Inside Me.”

Well, the movie made a splash at the recent Sundance Film Festival, and there is an extended trailer now available on the Internet.

The movie is an adaptation of a 1950s novel, and I have to admit I haven’t read that book. However, I’m told the book is very violent, and that violence has been transformed onto the screen. Its likely to make a lot of folks uncomfortable.

The title of the movie “The Killer Inside Me” should have been a clue, but when you’re all excited about having real movie stars in town, I’m not sure anyone really paid attention to the kind of movie it is.

If you watch the trailer, you’ll find out very quickly.

Early reviews have been fairly positive -- however, the reviewers warn many will be affected  by the level of violence, especially against women. The violence we see in the trailer is very graphic.

So, it will be interesting to see how the movie does when it is released.

The excitement of watching the scenes being filmed in Enid was definitely a fun, family experience. Lots of people lined the streets with their kids and watched the filming.

But, watching the movie definitely won’t be a family affair. Its strictly adult.
