Davis Park to host Financial Peace University



Financial Peace University (FPU), the 13-week life-changing lessons taught by Dave Ramsey via DVD, will start at 4 p.m. Sept. 12 at Davis Park Christian Church, 3320 N. Van Buren.

Each class participant needs a kit. Special rates routinely are available online at www.daveramsey.com or by calling (888) 227-3223. Included in the cost of the kit is a lifetime family membership to FPU, allowing the participant to return to any class at anytime for a refresher course.

The kit also includes an FPU workbook, an FPU envelope system, 13 audio lessons, bonus CD, budgeting forms, debit card holders and Ramsey’s best-selling book, “Financial Peace.”

“Living the Challenge” celebration slated Sept. 10



Women and men of all churches are invited by Church Women United of Garfield County to attend a Human Rights Celebration at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at University Place Christian Church, 2107 E. Broadway.

The program with the theme “Living the Challenge: Differently Enabled, Uniquely Called” will be led by the women of First United Methodist Church with the help of people who live the challenge on a daily basis.

A Human Rights Award from the national organization of Church Women United will be presented to Carol Wagar, longtime special education teacher and advocate for the differently enabled. The Rev. Susan Southall and Paula Nightengale, who received Human Rights awards in 2009, also will be recognized.

Meal tickets are $6, payable at the door. Reservations should be called in to Peggy Schaffer at 234-2944 no later than Tuesday.
