First Baptist Church of Enid celebrated the completion of an extensive renovation project and the payoff of an $850,000 loan with a note burning ceremony Jan. 3 led by Pastor Keith Miller (pictured at left, center), Chairman of the Renovation Committee Darrel Hager and Chairman of the Upward By Faith Committee Ernie Currier.
A capital gifts campaign was initiated June 2004 as a basis of funding the effort with financial commitments beginning in October 2004.
Renovation, which involved three floors of a five-story Education Building, began July 2005 and was completed in May 2006.
First Baptist Church secured the 20-year note through the Baptist Foundation of Okla-homa for the balance of the costs of the project, which totaled approximately $1.4 million.
As of Dec. 18, 2009, the note was paid in full.
