Redeemer Lutheran to dedicate sanctuary

A special worship service dedicating the newly renovated Redeemer Lutheran Church sanctuary will be 3 p.m. Sunday. Former pastor of Redeemer, Christopher Hall, will serve as lector, while Miles Schultz, vice president of the Oklahoma district LCMS, will deliver the message. New Redeemer Pastor Thomas House will serve as liturgist. Marjorie Hall, former music director, will provide piano and organ accompaniment with the Adult, Bell and Jubilate choirs. A reception will follow in the Family Life Center.

The sanctuary renovation project began in March 2011. The building committee, led by G.J. Brune, included Redeemer members Leonard Dungan, Gloria Choat, Joyce Yauk, John Postier, Dr. Kem Keithly, Mike Stillwagen and Robbie Gray. The entire renovation, with an estimated cost of around $910,000, was paid for along the way with no debt incurred by the church for the project. Various fundraisers from Oktoberfest to Goodies Galore and members that gave sizeable donations challenged other members to match their donations. According to Brune, “We saved a lot of money by doing much of the work ourselves, probably saving as much as $75,000. My brother, Paul Brune, a civil engineer offered his services and several members of the church pitched in on their areas of expertise.”

Redeemer Lutheran Church is located at 215 S. Cleveland. For more information, call 580-234-6622. Sunday service times are 8 and 10:30 a.m., with Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.
