Oklahoma City to host ecumenical activists

Every year ecumenical activists from every Christian denomination gather for an annual meeting. This year, the annual National Workshop on Christian Unity will meet for the first time in Oklahoma City.

The meeting will begin with an ecumenical worship service at First United Methodist Church Monday evening.

Participants will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vatican II with seminars and plenary sessions on Tuesday at the Skirvin Hilton. Registration is required to attend the seminars and plenary sessions. Register online at www.nwcu.org.

Additional seminars, plenary sessions and worship services will be held Wednesday.

Workshops include sessions on ecumenical advocacy, ecumenical engagement, the art of ecumenical and religious exchange, reading each other’s scriptures, the hope of eternal life, Native American spirituality and young adulthood interrupted.

The meeting will conclude with a Bible Study, closing address and luncheon Thursday.

For additional information, contact William Tabbernee or Jennifer Sweeten at the Oklahoma Conference of Churches at (405) 529-2928 or by email at okchurches@okchurches.org.
