We will never forget 9/11

“Sing praises to the Lord, Who dwells in Zion! Declare among the peoples His doings! For He Who avenges the blood [of His people shed unjustly] remembers them; He does not forget the cry of the afflicted [the poor and the humble.” Psalm 9:11

Ten years ago today, a deadly venom of devastation, destruction and terror was spewed onto our sweet land of liberty. Lives were changed forever, hearts broken and faith tested.

From the ruins of that deadly attack on America arose documentaries, books, songs and heroes. A day we will never forget.

There isn’t one person reading this column, who can’t tell you where they were and what they were doing at 7:46 a.m. Tuesday morning, Sept. 11, 2001, when that first tower was hit. It was kind of like when President Kennedy was shot.

Folks, God has not forgotten either. “He tracks down killers yet keeps His eye on us, registers every whimper and moan” (Message Bible).

Psalm 9, written by David, and “America the Beautiful,” written by Katharine Lee Bates, are a reminder to us that God loves us and our country.

He shed His grace on us and His blood for us. His goodness and mercy follow us.

He gives His angels charge over us. Folks, God is still on His throne. He is still in control and He still has the last say.

We will never forget 9/11 and we must never forget we are a blessed people, living in a blessed and prosperous land.

The enemy is alive and well here on planet Earth, my friends, and in these United States.

Bad things happen and people are mean, but my Bible tells me “the Lord hath made Himself known; He executes judgment; the wicked are snarred in the work of their own hands.” (Psalm 9:16)

America the Beautiful

O beautiful for spacious skies,

For amber waves of grain,

For purple mountains majesties

Above the fruited plain!

America! America!

God shed His grace on thee

And crown they good with brotherhood

From sea to shining sea.

O beautiful for pilgrim feet

Whose stern impassion’d stress

A thoroughfare of freedom beat

Across the wilderness!

America! America!

God mend thine ev’ry flaw,

Confirm thy soul in self-control,

Thy liberty in law!

O beautiful for heroes prov’d

In liberating strife.

Who more than self their country loved

And mercy more than life!

America! America!

May God thy gold refine

Till all success be nobleness

And ev’ry gain divine!

O beautiful for patriot dream

That see beyond the years

Thine alabaster cities gleam

Undimmed by human gears!

America! America!

God shed His grace on thee

And crown they good with brotherhood

From see to shining sea!

WE WILL NOT FORGET! NOR WILL GOD!

Keep the faith and worship somewhere today.
