Siebert promoted to DHS human resources manager



Gary Siebert has been promoted to human resources manager I at Oklahoma Department of Human Services and is the newest member of the human resources management division, benefits and employee focused services team.

Siebert, a 1986 graduate of Kremlin-Hillsdale Public Schools, will work with DHS employees statewide through the employee assistance program, the volunteer chaplain services, the education assistance program, the self-care lecture series and staff training.

Siebert’s early years with DHS were as a child welfare specialist in Roger Mills, Caddo and Carter counties. He left DHS and spent several years as a pastor, including one year as pastor of Ringwood Wesleyan Church.

He returned to DHS in 2006 to help launch the FamilyStart advocacy outreach program. He joined the Developmental Disabilities Services Division as a resource developer and construction coordinator. His most recent position was programs field representative for the DDSD employment services unit.

An ordained minister, Siebert has served as a DHS volunteer chaplain and is as interim pastor for Straightway Bible Church in Goldsby. He is the son of Enid residents Karl and Carol Siebert and Marilyn Siebert. He and his wife, Rhonda, have two children.



Sampson joins Carter as chaplain



Jereme Sampson has joined Carter HealthCare and Hospice as chaplain and volunteer coordinator.

Sampson has a master of divinity degree from Oral Roberts University and was chaplain at Will Rogers Air National Guard Base in Oklahoma City before joining Carter. He originally is from Charlotte, N.C.

He and his wife, Eida, have two children.

Dickey attends Merle Norman convention



Cindy Dickey, owner of the Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio in Sunset Plaza, attended the 78th annual Merle Norman convention May 24-27 in Orlando, Fla.

Those attending previewed products and color trends for fall and winter. Along with product introductions, the convention offered seminars that focused on industry matters. Trainers led in-depth discussions on product technology and color application. Roundtable sessions also were held.

Schubert joins Affinity



Michelle Schubert has joined Affinity Fitness & Beauty Spa, 206 W. Randolph.

A stylist for 17 years, Schubert specializes in color, perm, haircut and waxing. The 1992 graduate of Enid Beauty College owned Cutting Edge Salon for five years and worked at Supercuts in 2008.

St. Mary’s Diabetes Care Center’s diabetes

education program merits ADA recognition



St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center’s Diabetes Care Center has been awarded the American Diabetes Association’s education recognition certificate for a quality diabetes self-management education practices.

The certificate assures educational programs meet national standards for diabetes self-management education programs.

“The process gives professionals a national standard by which to measure the quality of services they provide,” said Rick Wallace, CEO. “And, of course, it assures the consumer that he or she will likely receive high-quality service.”

Education recognition status is verified by an official certificate from ADA and awarded for three years.

ADA is a leading non-profit health organization supporting diabetes research advocacy and information for health professionals, patients and the public. Founded in 1940, the association has offices in every state and conducts programs in communities nationwide.



Layman, Hall new owners of The Brass Poodle



Shannon Layman and Mindy Hall, professional pet stylists, are new owners of The Brass Poodle.

Layman has been a pet stylist for nine years and a dog handler for 18, showing dogs across the country. She has been with The Brass Poodle for nine years.

Hall has been a pet stylist for 18 years, grooming in Enid and Fort Worth, Texas. She has been with The Brass Poodle for 16 years.

Joining them is pet stylist Devin Bush, who has been grooming all canine breeds for two years in Enid and Oklahoma City.



Holder earns bonus for high sales with Reliv



Enid resident Kecia Holder placed No. 8 in May sales volume among more than 55,000 U.S. distributors for Reliv International, Inc., a direct selling company that markets nutritional supplements.

Holder earned a $1,500 bonus for extraordinary accomplishments.  

According to Holder, Reliv is dedicated to making complex nutrition simple. The company’s scientists integrate the latest nutritional research into its scientifically advanced products.

Ellis named St. Mary’s Employee of the Year



Carolyn Ellis recently was named the 2009 St. Mary Regional Medical Center’s Employee of the Year. She has worked at St. Mary’s for 35 years. Until her change in status in early July, Ellis served as the education/training manager. Although semi-retired, she will be available to assist in future training programs for the St. Mary’s staff and physicians.

Ellis graduated from St. Mary’s Nursing School and began her nursing career at St. Mary’s in 1974. She started on the third floor’s medical and surgical unit and then transferred to the intensive care unit and cath lab. She was instrumental in the development of the post coronary care unit and the congestive heart failure programs. As the education/training manager, she was responsible for new hire orientation and for setting up educational programs to meet the needs of the hospital and its staff.

According to corporate communications director Cyndy Shepherd, Ellis has held many positions at St. Mary’s and patients has benefited from the skills she has taught their caregivers. She also has taught the power to comfort, to lift an ailing heart and to treat agonizing illnesses. She practices and teaches honor and respect for each patient as a person who is full of self worth, full of dignity and deserving of the highest quality of care.



Cornell attends dance congress



Nikki Cornell, director of Dance Works of Enid, recently attended The Jazz Dance World Congress in Chicago. She studied with Jon Lehrer, Nan Giordano, Liz Imperio, Masashi Mishiro, Kirby Reed and six international dance companies from across the globe.

Reddick named Northcutt’s Associate

of the Month for June



Ed Reddick has been named Associate of the Month for June at Northcutt Chevy-Buick-Toyota. He has been with the sales department for three years. His supervisors said his knowledge, professionalism and enthusiasm are attributes they appreciate.
