Hupfeld transitioning to chairman of Integris Family Foundations

Stanley F. Hupfeld, president and CEO of Integris Health, will transition from his role as president and chief executive officer of Integris Health to become chairman of Integris Family of Founda-tions, effective Jan. 1, according to Luke Corbett, chairman of Integris Health Board of Directors.

The board has designated Bruce Lawrence, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Integris Health, to assume the role of chief executive officer.

“Stan’s visionary leadership throughout the past 22 years has led Integris to become one of the finest health care systems in the country. As we look to the future, the board has the utmost confidence in Bruce’s skills for leading Integris during this challenging time for the health care industry. Bruce’s vast experience in health care administration is impressive, and his strong commitment to our employees, physicians and patients will build upon the foundation laid by Stan,” Corbett said.

Hupfeld joined the organization in 1987 as president and chief executive officer of Baptist Medical Center. Under his leadership Baptist Medical Center, Southwest Medical Center and Baptist Healthcare Corp. (which owned hospitals throughout rural Oklahoma), merged to become Integris Health in 1995.

As Oklahoma’s largest not-for-profit health care provider, Integris has grown to a statewide system of 13 hospitals with more than 9,000 employees, providing services to nearly two million Oklahomans annually.

During his tenure, Hupfeld has overseen the development of centers of excellence that have brought Integris Health national acclaim, including a comprehensive transplant center, the state’s only burn center, a mechanical heart program and Integris Cancer Institute of Oklahoma, slated to open in September.

Hupfeld led efforts to establish a free clinic at Olivet Baptist Church, start a gang intervention program and sponsor a charter school — Western Village Academy — which has earned national recognition for successes with underprivileged children.

In 2004, he was instrumental in founding Oklahoma Fit Kids Coalition, which has been a catalyst in creating positive changes in nutrition and exercise for Oklahoma public school students.

Lawrence has been serving as chief operating officer since 2006, with responsibility for Integris hospitals across the state. He joined Integris in 2000 as president of Baptist Medical Center and South-west Medical Center. Law-rence previously was senior vice president and chief operating officer of Baptist Health in Montgomery, Ala.
