Workshop to teach business basics



Oklahoma Small Business Development Center, Service Corps of Retired Executives, will hold a “Business Management Basics” workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 20 in the OSBDC/SCORE Office, Room 222, on the campus of Northwestern Oklahoma State University-Enid, 2929 E. Randolph.

The workshop is for individuals who are considering going into business for themselves or new business owners who may have some management questions. Questions that will be answered during this workshop include management, raising capital, strategic planning, marketing/advertising and human resource development.

Kroeker attends annual play therapy conference



Rebecca Kroeker, counselor at Enid Counseling & Diagnostic, recently attended Oklahoma Associa-tion for Play Therapy’s annual conference.

Kroeker was appointed as regional representative for the Enid area. The conference included training by Dr. Diane Frey on “Using Magic in Play Therapy.”

Kroeker holds a master’s of human relations degree with counseling track from the University of Oklahoma. She has more than five years working in social services. Kroeker specializes in play therapy and family therapy.





Coppock receives CPA certificate



Dywan Coppock, of Security National Bank, has received her CPA certificate.

Coppock was honored at a ceremony Dec. 10 in the Senate chambers of the state Capitol in Oklahoma City. Coppock’s certificate was presented by Janice Gray, CPA and secretary of the Oklahoma Accountancy Board.

Coppock has been with SNB since 1992, when she was hired as a part-time teller. Since then, she has held several positions within the organization, including teller, ATM teller, assistant loan secretary and bookkeeping. Coppock currently is overdraft privilege administrator as well as the ACH/wire transfer clerk.

She is a graduate of Enid High School and holds a degree in business administration from the University of Central Oklahoma. Coppock is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She and her husband, Zack, are members of Living Word Fellowship.





Groendyke managers gather for annual meeting



Groendyke Transport’s annual managers meeting for 2006 was Jan. 18-19 in the lectorium at Autry Technology Center.

Dinners and social activities were at Groendyke Lodge. There were 50 people in attendance from the Groendyke operating areas in 11 states, including managers from 33 truck terminal locations, region directors, sales managers and field safety coordinators. In addition, 31 attendees from the Enid corporate headquarters participated in the meeting and presentations. Similar meetings will be conducted in February and March for all Groendyke dispatchers.

Martin Labbe, an economist from Ormond, Fla., addressed the group on “The Future of Trucking.” Labbe, who is known for his expertise and knowledge of the trucking industry, covered such topics as the economy, government regulations and the labor market,with particular focus on cost increases and the shortage of experienced truck drivers, especially those qualified to transport hazardous products.

Groendyke Transport is the fifth- largest tank-truck carrier in the United States with 1,357 employees. In 2005, Groendyke trucks, operated by 954 professional drivers, traveled almost 80 million miles transporting 375,822 loads to customers throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. Freight revenue was $181.6 million.





Greven, Whitten move to Professional Hair Quarters



Ed Greven, former owner of The Razor’s Edge, has relocated to the Pro-fessional Hair Quarters in Indian Hills Shopping Center, 1919 W. Garriott.

He opened The Razor’s Edge behind Central National Bank in 1970, and was the first barber-style shop in Enid that worked by appointment.

Today, appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are accepted. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

Gayle Whitten joins Greven as he moves to Professional Hair Quarters. She has been associated with The Razor’s Edge for a number of years. She works 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.





ADM honors employees for years of service



ADM Milling Co. recently honored several employees for their service to the company.

Marvin Clayter was honored for 35 years of service, while John Greenan, Jackie Lowrie and David Whorton were recognized for 25 years of service.





Anderson attends PREP training session



Jeff Anderson, LPC, of New Horizons Counseling Center, attended the internationally recognized Prevention Relation-ship Enhance-ment Program (PREP) leader training, sponsored by Oklahoma Marriage Initiative, Jan. 23-25 at Moore-Norman Technology Center.

He learned to perform PREP workshops, which teach couples skills to improve their relationships. The training was led by Dr. Scott Stanley, Dr. Howard J. Markman and Natalie Jenkins, of PREP Inc., of Greenwood, Colo.





Bules named Northcutt Employee of the Month



Jayeleene Bules has been named Employee of the Month for December at Northcutt Chevrolet-Buick-Toyota.

She has been with Northcutt’s accounting department for 17 years, holding several positions.

According to her supervisors, Bules has developed unparalleled organizational skills and knowledge and has shown dedication to achieving 100 percent customer satisfaction.





Tesconi achieves CFP designation



Lisa Tesconi, a financial adviser with Ameriprise Financial in Enid, has achieved the professional designation of certified financial planner.

She successfully completed the requirements, which include course work and a series of examinations covering financial planning process, risk management, investments, tax planning and management, retirement and employee benefits and estate planning.

As a CFP professional, Tesconi has agreed to meet continuing education requirements and to uphold the code of ethics and professional responsibility developed by the Certified Financial Planning Board.

Tesconi specializes in retirement planning and comprehensive financial planning.

Zimny, Taylor join staff at Pet Salon



Sharon Zimny and her daughter, Brandi Taylor, have joined the staff at The Pet Salon, 626 N. Van Buren.

Zimny has 24 years experience as a professional all-breed dog and cat groomer. She has groomed in New York and Enid.

Taylor has 10 years experience in the pet industry and four years as a professional dog and cat groomer.
