Enid Metro Association of Realtors will receive $15,000 from Oklahoma Housing Foundation as part of an umbrella grant given by the Ira Gribin Workforce Housing Grant for five different Realtor associations across the state.
The Ira Gribin Workforce Housing Grant is distributed by National Association of Realtors and provides state Realtor foundations and associations with the resources and support to take the initiative to address workforce housing issues in their state.
Enid Metro Association of Realtors received $15,000 for its “Good Neighbor Fund” program in which funds are used to help low income, elderly and disabled home owners for the express purpose of bringing their homes into compliance with City code.
Enid Realtors work with Community Development Support Association of Enid (CDSA) to identify homeowners that need help.
Since the “Good Neighbor Fund” program began in 2007, there have been 231 homeowners helped at an average of 57 homes per year. A representative said there is more demand for their help than they are able to give because so much of the work must be done by volunteers. The grant money will enable the organization to hire more skilled workers and free up volunteers for other projects.
To volunteer or donate to the Good Neighbor Fund, contact Enid Metro Association of Realtors.
Other programs in the state receiving grant monies from Oklahoma Housing Foundation are Bartlesville Association of Realtors Buy a Foot, Build a Home, Be a Hero program; the Lawton Board of Realtors Volunteer Realtor program; Midwest City/Del City/Moore Association of Realtors work with Rebuilding Together OKC; and Stillwater Board of Realtors Buy a Foot, Build a Home, Be a Hero program.
