ENID, Okla. —
Martha Syms, director of patient safety/risk at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, and Carrie Willson, dietitian at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center, were among 42 hospital team members statewide to receive an Oklahoma Hospital Association (OHA) Spirit of Advancing Wellness Award during the 2012 OHA Annual Convention Nov. 2. The 42 front-line, behind-the-scenes and administrative employees, physicians and board members received the award in recognition of their commitment to improving wellness at the hospital, community or state level.
Award recipients were chosen by their hospitals for exemplifying the spirit of advancing wellness by being the catalyst for creating new wellness programs internally or in the community; providing a visionary and proactive approach to advancing wellness; championing a wellness program through their own level of commitment and being a positive example; or fostering and demonstrating a successful approach that will lead to improving health statistics within the hospital or community.
“We are pleased to honor these special hospital employees who have dedicated time, talent or expertise to improve their organizations and their communities,” said Craig W. Jones, president of Oklahoma Hospital Association. “These are the type of team members who, when they see problems, consistently work to solve them.”
