Lawrence “Frog” Brittain will celebrate his 80th birthday with a reception for family and friends 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Trinity Baptist Church, 1818 E. Chestnut, Enid. Cards may be sent to 3020 Barn Swallow Rd., Enid, OK 73703.

Lawrence was born Dec. 5, 1932, in Ames the son of O.J. “Dude” and Thelma (Vance) Brittain.

He is a 1950 graduate of Ames High School, attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva from 1951 to 1952, and OSU Tech in Okmulgee from 1958 to 1959.

He married Carol Oakley in 1959 and Joyce Phipps in 2000.

He worked 15 years for J.B. Payne & Associates and was the assistant engineer for C.H. Guernsey & Co. in Enid for 15 years.

He served with the U.S. Army from January 1953 to January 1955 in Korea.

He is a member of Trinity Baptist Church and continues to help with the Special Olympics.

His children are Lisa and Roger Vasquez, Plano, Texas; Larry and Kim Brittain, Enid; Brenda and Kent Jordan, Ringwood; Audrey and Mark Seal, Ringwood; and Marty Jantzen, Enid. He has eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
