Daniel J. Houston will celebrate his 80th birthday 2-4 p.m. Sunday at St. John’s Lutheran Parish Hall, Covington. Cards may be sent to 18223 E. Flynn, Douglas, OK 73733.
He was born Nov. 8, 1929, in Enid the son of Edward and Mabel Houston. He graduated from Pioneer High School in 1947.
He raises cattle and farms in the Covington, Douglas and Bison areas. He was a roughneck on oil rigs in the late 1960s and 1970s. He served in the Air Force from 1948 to 1950. He is a member of St. John’s Lutheran, Covington.
He married Yvonne Schulz July 12, 1954. She died in May 1994. He and Betty Beeby of Marshall have been companions since 1995.
His children are Shirley Southwick, Garber; Danny and Tommie Houston, Covington; and Kandy and John Trojan, Bison. He has four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He and his granddaughter, Katy, share the same birth date.
