She was born Nov. 3, 1929, on a farm nor-thwest of Waynoka, the daughter of Vir-gil and Gertie Withrow.
She attended eight years of school in Waynoka and then moved to Enid. She graduated from Enid High School — which was held at Emerson Junior High School because of a fire in 1942 — and attended Enid Business College.
She worked in the office for six years at Gold Spot Dairy.
She married Koland Olbert June 5, 1965. She worked 10 years at Central National Bank and then she and her husband purchased Tom & Tiddle Boot and Shoe Repair Shop.
She spent 10 years there before becoming a consultant and director for Mary Kay Cosmetics, serving for 23 years.
She played organ at the Wesleyan Church and First Love Church for a total of 36 years, was secretary-treasurer for more than 20 years, taught Sunday school for many years, was president of the women’s ministry and was active in Gideon’s Auxiliary.
Her children are Terry Smith, North Las Vegas, and Jeff and Kim Olbert, Mustang. She has six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Vore, 85
LaVeta Vore will celebrate her 85th birthday Sunday at Dacoma Church of God. There will be a church dinner and a get-together until 3 p.m. Cards may be sent to 48089 Apache Rd, Cleo Springs, OK 73729.
She was married to Bob Vore for 64 years until his death in 2005. She still lives on the Vore ranch.
Her children are Karen and Charly Cell and Bonnie and Rick Shaklee.
