Luncheon set Friday

Enid High School Class of 1945 will host a spring luncheon 11:30 a.m. Friday in the Ramada Inn meeting room, 3005 W. Garriott.

Reservations are required for the buffet lunch. Contact Helen Roll Phelps at 242-2533 for reservations.

Music camp slated

Southern Heights Heritage Center and Museum will present its 4th annual Leona Mitchell Music Camp June 9-20.

The music camp is intended to provide access to master teachers, drama coaches, techniques, tips and instruction in performing arts. It also will provide a variety of experiences exploring and highlighting the talents of children as they perform in different venues.

Arrangements are currently pending for a public performance featuring Leona Mitchell with music camp students. Ticket sales help fund future music camps, museum operations and scholarships.

This year’s chosen opera theme is Georges Bizet’s “Carmen.” Music camp participants will be able to view Mitchell’s recorded performance with the Metropolitan Opera Chorus and Orchestra.

The camp is open to up to 40 participants ages 6-18, with or without musical training. Cost is $15 per person. Music camp administrators seek grant assistance from the Oklahoma Arts Council, however, local donors are needed to provide additional funding for camp expenditures. Skilled volunteers may apply to assist.

Applications are available at the museum, 616 Leona Mitchell, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, or can be mailed upon request. Applications, along with the enrollment fee, must be returned no later than May 16.

To pre-register, e-mail achoctaw1866@aol.com or contact Barbara Finley, museum executive director, at 237-6989.
