Iris society to hold fundraiser this weekend

North Central Iris Society will be holding its annual iris rhizome fundraiser at the community room 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Oakwood Mall.

The public will have the opportunity to purchase a large variety of named iris rhizomes. These will be locally grown irises that have proven to be excellent growers in northern Oklahoma. Experienced iris gardeners will be on hand to discuss plant selection and provide tips on iris cultivation. They also will advise gardeners on the best varieties for use in mixed flowerbeds.

North Central Iris Society is an American Iris Society affiliate in Region 22, which covers Oklahoma and Arkansas. It is a non-profit organization of gardeners interested in learning about, growing and propagating irises. This event helps fund society events such as the annual iris show, society programs and speakers at meetings throughout the year, which are open for public participation.
