McNeely-65th
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne McNeely will celebrate their 65th anniversary Friday at home. Cards may be sent to 2602 N. Cleveland, Enid, OK 73703.
Wayne and Elva Jean were married Nov. 6, 1944, while he was in the Army. They grew up together in southeast Nebraska. He served three years in the South Pacific during World War II.
They farmed for a year before moving to Golden, Colo., where he eventually graduated from Colorado School of Mines with a petroleum engineering degree. He worked for Magnolia Petroleum (now Exxon Mobile Corp.) for more than 33 years in domestic oil and gas operations. He then consulted in Nigeria and Brazil. Together they worked 16 summers at Yellowstone National Park, where he managed a large retail store and she was the gift department manager. They retired in 2006.
They lived in New Orleans for 34 years before relocating to Enid in March 2007. They are members of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
They have four children, eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
