ENID, Okla. —
Mr. and Mrs. Marion Batterman will celebrate their 70th anniversary with family this weekend. Cards may be sent to 1600 W. Willow, Apt. 214, Enid, OK 73703.
Marion and Delcea Batterman were married Feb. 3, 1943, in Elkhart, Kan.
In less than two years, Marion joined World War II in the South Pacific theatre, until the war ended.
Upon his return, he attended college in Texas and entered Christian ministry with his wife, Delcea. They served three churches over the next 12 years.
In 1955, they moved with their three children to Enid, where Delcea was a homemaker and Marion worked at Pillsbury Mills and later for Evans Cut-Rite Drug until their children were grown. They then purchased and operated a family recreation business until they retired.
He enjoys fishing and golfing and she is a seamstress, plays piano, enjoys bowling and participates in Gaslight Theatre.
They are members of Central Christian Church, where he is an elder emeritus and has served as Sunday school teacher for the Sooner class.
Their children are Eilene Crites and the late Chuck Crites; Marvin and Cheryl Batterman; and Glenda and Bill Martell. They are grandparents, great-grandparents and great-great-grandparents.
