ENID, Okla. —
Garfield County Rural Rotatory met Nov. 15 at Raymie’s Restaurant for its annual Thanksgiving dinner, hosted by Charles and Nancy Buckminster.
The dinner was followed by the regular business meeting.
Rick Nelson, new ag educator with Garfield County Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Center, was introduced.
Alan Milacek gave a slide presentation of a trip he and his wife Pat took to Michigan and Wisconsin. A highlight of their trip was learning about the agriculture enterprise of a diary consisting of 3,600 milk cows and 1,000 heifers, which soon would join the herd of milk cows. The cows are milked three times a day. Visiting cranberry farms, learning about hogs and how cranberries are harvested also was interesting, Milacek said.
Garfield County Rural Rotatory will meet again Dec. 20 at Hunter Community Center with Gene and Norma Hisey hosting.
