Drummond students busy with contests

ENID, Okla. — January has been a month full of contests for Drummond FFA members.

On Jan. 21, they went to the Autry Technology Center interscholastic contest, where we competed in animal science, ag mechanics and opening ceremonies. The animal science team, consisting of Tyler Messall, Jennifer Swart, Miles Shaddy and McKenna Morrison, placed first. The ag mechanics team, which included Clayton Mack, Kaleb Cain, Scott Rodenberg and Conner Solomon, also placed first. Kaleb Cain placed first as an individual, Clayton Mack placed third, and Scott Rodenberg placed seventh. The opening ceremonies team of Jacob Earl, Caleb Earl, Brittney Miller, Emily Perry, Tara Crider, Steffen Singleton and Mr. Dillingham placed first as well.

On Jan. 23, several members traveled to Tonkawa for the Northern Oklahoma College interscholastic contest. Emiley Shell, Tyler Morrison and Kaitlin Colleary competed as a team in the meat judging division.

On Jan. 30, Clayton Mack competed in the Northwest District Livestock Judging Contest.

One upcoming event for Drummond FFA is the annual trophy sale. All proceeds from this sale go toward FFA and 4-H members who show livestock at the local show. Also at the sale, the chapter will have a metal art silent auction. Members, along with Mr. Dillingham, have been working hard on the plasma cam, designing pieces for the auction.
