Conditions of wheat, canola crops are mixed

ENID, Okla. — Most of Oklahoma’s wheat crop is rated fair or good by U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.

NASS rated 19 percent of the crop in good condition in its report issued March 11. Thirty-nine percent was rated in fair condition.

On the down side, 41 percent of the wheat crop was rated in poor or very poor condition.

The remaining 1 percent was rated in excellent condition.

Wheat jointing was 21 percent complete by March 10, which 16 percentage points behind this time a year ago, but four percentage points ahead of the five-year average.

In terms of the canola crop, 30 percent was rated fair, with 17 percent rated good. Fifty-three percent of the crop was rated poor or very poor.
