Cimarron FFA members attend national convention



Eleven members of Cimarron FFA recently attended the 82nd annual National FFA Convention in Indianapolis.

The chapter was recognized as a 3-Star National Gold Emblem Chapter, which is the highest recognition a chapter can receive on the national level. Ross Mencke, Hollie Detrick and Cory Detrick also were awarded the American FFA Degree, which is the highest degree that can be earned by members.

More than 50,000 FFA members from across the country joined together to participate in a wide variety of leadership activities. Students heard from notable speakers such as Mike Rowe, Harvey Alston and retiring national officers.

Cimarron FFA members attending the convention were Justin Smith, Zack Crow, Blade Bode, Tyler Leachman, Jacob Leachman, Christian Gunning, Kelsey Pettus, Hayley Pitts, Heather Crow, Jessica Goodman and Lauren Brakhage.







Drummond students keep busy with events



Drummond FFA chapter has been busy with numerous events.

The group still has Blue and Gold bacon for sale for $13. Call (580) 493-2272.

Clayton Mack, Allison Pruitt, Jalyn Boedecker, Caisha Boedecker and Tyler Messall attended the Tulsa State Fair Livestock Show. Mack and Scott Rodenberg competed in the Tulsa State Fair tractor driving contest, with Mack placing 11th.

Pruit, Clint Gates, Mack, Tristan Armour, Sarah Otto and Messall attended C.O.L.T. Conference at Cherokee Strip Conference Center in Enid.

Mack, Brady Kokojan, Brian Masters, Tyler Dobrovolny, Gates and Lape Young competed in the district sporting clays event.

At the P.I. Contest in Lahoma, Messall, Madison Perry and Sarah Otto made the top 10 in Greenhand quiz. In the opening ceremonies contest the Drummond team of Armour, Bailey Miller, Perry, Otto, Jennifer Swart and Kaylen Gregory, placed second.

In the ninth-grade creed speaking contest, Otto placed fifth, Swart placed fourth, Mack placed third and Miller placed first.

In the eighth-grade creed speaking contest, McKenna Morrison placed third.

Members also attended the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis.

Eight members attended the Career Development Event in Stillwater. Messall and Miller competed in meat judging. Competing in agricultural communications were Otto, Perry, Jaden Arnold, Gregory, Swart and Armour.

The annual Young Farmers pancake supper will be 5 p.m. Dec. 1 in the school cafeteria. Menu includes pancakes and Blue and Gold sausage. Cost is by donation.
