Alva students place at Woodward Jackpot

ENID, Okla. — Alva FFA members kicked off 2013 with a bang Jan. 6-7.

Not only did members show pigs at the Wood-ward Jackpot, but they also volunteered their time to help the livestock show run more smoothly. Tanner Burton, Tyler Burton, Dakota Nusser and Riley Hess cleaned the ring each morning before the show began to assure the highest quality of wood pellets were ready for the pigs to walk on all throughout the day.

Along with this, they assisted with handing out T-shirts for Northwest Oklahoma Show Pig Circuit members.

Alva came out on top at the livestock show with several top-five winners, breed champions and reserve grand champion exhibited by Kolby Slater.

This livestock show was the second of the year and is preparing members and their pigs for the larger livestock shows in February and March.

These small livestock shows will continue throughout January and early February.
