ENID, Okla. —
Gold cups. The sign of a well-deserved win.
Not often are these rewarded in the judging world, but on Dec. 14, Alva FFA judging team took home this traveling trophy to add to their wins.
Kansas Beef Expo is an all-beef judging contest in Hutchinson. Eight classes of steers, bulls and heifers are judged and two sets of oral reasons are given. Alva took nine judgers: Tanner Burton, Terrill Burton, Tyler Burton, Cole Koppitz, Cathy Mapes, Courtney Mapes, Ross Murrow, Julie Owen and Traci Owen.
The senior Alva FFA team placed first overall, and the junior team placed seventh. Tyler Burton placed second overall individually in the senior judging competition.
